You wouldn’t think that there would be anything interesting about the history of the toothbrush, but you actually might find this article quite entertaining. These are some random yet fun facts to know about the history of the toothbrush. No one really knows exactly or for sure where the toothbrush was actually derived from or used. There are rumors saying that the toothbrush was invented in China at around the 11th century. Other people like to believe that the toothbrush was invented by the Romans near the time of Caesar, which basically tells us that it is quite unclear when the toothbrush was made.
Everyone was aware that their teeth needed to be cleaned because there were several toothaches, etc. to provide that their teeth needed to simply be cleaned. The thought of the toothbrush was probably invented in the 13th century. Instead of a toothbrush in the 13th century, they hadn’t quite come up with that sort of technology yet so they decided to use sharp objects instead. It was very common and usual for toothpicks to be made of silver and bronze!
The Africans used to brush their teeth by means of using a flat stick to scrape off all of the left over debris on their teeth. In the 16th or 17th century China had finally invented the modern tooth brush. This is where the history of the toothbrush became bumped up a notch. Luckily now we are provided with plastic bristles for our toothbrush, back then they used animal hair until 1938!
